London escapades

Went to London today to celebrate Katie's birthday. A bit rough and ready but overall an enjoyable time. Going to bed soon but wanted to jot a note or two since I've been nudged into doing so (bows to Samantha).

Yesterday we had a day long field trip around the Harlow area-- Epping forest, Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge, Waltham Abbey, ect. Again, I'll load some pictures up sometime or other.

Not much else. I'm going to bed-- got a bit of the flu!

Tired but too warm to sleep

Nearly 2:30am and a trip to London in eight hours; what am I doing awake?

I've settled into The Maltings, and though a little hesitant about the lack of dressers/drawers to store doohickeys and doodads (ie. the mess of chords I've brought with me), I like my area. I think there's about six or eight people on my floor. I guess the only negative thing I can say is that I cannot access the common area, creating a more acute sense of separation. Nothing to worry about however, I've been in similar situations and learned to deal with it. Also, everyone is extremely helpful and genuinely nice. The extent of the preparation to accomodate me is monumental and so I'm thankful for it, it certainly makes things easier. I guess my last issue is that I have to get out of the mindset of being a burden (as someone had the grace to imply when I considered going. Really.) on the enjoyment of the program of my fellow classmates.

Got some pictures to upload later. Have to fiddle with them for a bit. That's always fun. Also emailed the parents to let them know I was safe (yes, three days into the trip and they didn't have a word from me... I am a terrible daughter). Honestly, I find it slightly embarrassing to have put it off as long as I did since I feel it shows a certain disregard. Soo... lo siento mis padres. I'll try and be more communicative in the future.
